Juicy Lips

A special edition for early collectors. This Canson Photorag limited edition is a milestone for me, as this year I opened my first commercial studio in London and started my PHD.

You can become a founding collector if you wish to.

Juicy Lips

This is a close-up of my lips. Dripping red lipstick, my moustache in full view, a bright red backdrop. It's hypersexual and a little humoristic. It plays to the core of my artistic research in a bold but not sublime take. It’s like me, a bit too loud but not too serious.

Right now I am researching representation and how it is assembled. My subject is identity and I’m figuring out how it can be reframed by changing the assemblages that reinforce it. Representationality is one of them. So by representing and overproducing myself, I challenge the automatism of identity. But also in red hot sexy lipstick.

Juicy Lips, Founding Collector Edition
from £95.00

Juicy Lips is a funny one, it’s an artwork that came out of a light test, but then I decided to research it a little more. It’s a play on gender and production, whilst also been the “face” of my commercial studio practice. It sits in a comfortable place between hypersexual and funny, a little overproduced but not too serious.

I’ve printer this in Canson Photorag paper, an archival quality stock that guarantees durability and hold colour and detail very nicely. It was printed at UAL Chelsea, where I am researching for my PHD. That’s very meaningful to me.

Worldwide free shipping and signed certificate of authenticity with each print. Tracked shipping and replacement print available if lost or damaged.

How the artworld prices editions

Art value can sound esoteric but it is not. It is basically a mix between how scarce a work is and how valued the artist’s reputation is. Simple as that. You could factor the value of the materials too, like Damien Hirt’s “For the love of God”, but in general terms, that’s usually a lesser concern, compared to the other two.

Since my first sales in Costa Rica, The Liquid Body nearly tripled it´s price. Went from 800USD to around 2400 when I sold it in London in 2024 (math is hard and USD vs GBP). This just means I’ve exhibited more and have been recognized in more valuable spheres.

That work was made before I had a masters degree, before I moved to the UK, before the exhibitions, the residencies, the PhD. The person making work now has a longer track record and a sharper practice. So you get the math.

About me

I've been a working photographer since 2008, working with commercial clients, editorial work, portraits. I moved from Costa Rica to the UK in 2021 to do a masters in art photography, and I'm now completing a PhD while maintaining an active exhibition practice. My portrait work specialises in queer and kink portraiture. I'm based in the UK and I show regularly in London and internationally.

I've been doing this long enough to know the difference between noise and momentum. This is momentum.
