Who is this for?

This is aimed at photographers and enthusiast who already know how to control their camera but have yet to master studio lightning. The skills you will learn are transferable to any lighting system or situation.

What’s the method

The core of Find The Light is a strategy of systematic choice making: Establish your goal, describe the function, solve the creative problem through creative tools and the technical or material problems through technical solutions. This is abstract, but basically all comes down to learning simple rules to figure out your roadmap and how to deal with any potential problem parting from a very simple and structured toolkit.

Function over matter

Light only has 3 relevant behaviors and interacts with matter in 3 possible ways. This explains most of lighting technique. Yes, really. But the purpose is not to learn that, it is applying that to your goal. That’s why I favor light function as a key concept: function follows intention.

Whenever you trying to figure out like just go back to “Why am I putting this light here” and if you don’t know the answer, fall back to the system. Which you’ll know when you book this workshop.

Is this for you?

If you can see any photograph at any moment and correctly guess what tools were used to create it and why, then you don’t need it. But if you’re stuck on 3 light setups and still struggle between fills and keys and think this all sounds too gimicky, I can help you out.
