WHAT’S CAMERA BASICS?
Do you own a camera but still fear the M in the dial? Have you struggled to focus in dim light? You don’t really know what to buy next? Lemme help you.
In this 8-hours in-person course, you’ll learn the 3 major areas: Exposure Control, Aperture/Speed/Iso, and basic Composition skills. This is the core, you can build anything on top of it, but it’ll give you strong bases to learn any photographic skill.
SATURDAY MAY 23 AND MAY 30. 2 SESSIONS COURSE, 2 PM TO 6 PM.
Location: Islington, LITTLE BABE STUDIO.
EXPOSURE CONTROL AND LIGHT METERING
The whole point is making your camera do what you want. A couple of pickles here, cameras can’t do everything you want and you need to now how to make them work for you. So, what you’re exposing for and how to measure it is the base skill, Doesn’t matter what you do, if you get this right, you get everything else in line.
aperture, speed and iso
You’ve heard of the exposure triangle? Yeah, not a good starting point for learning. I’ll tell you why when you join. But it’s the main way to control some of the aesthetic outcomes, so we’ll leave it here. Get your speed for action, your aperture for selective focus and your ISO to fix low light or push the other two.
Composition is your main communication tool. The basic question is “What is this image about”. If you know how to frame, what to include and exclude. We’ll go over some amazing classics photographs and review your own images, before working on framing strategies, focus lock, recomposition and outputs.
